Mission Statement
The Women in Business initiative at the UNF Coggin College of Business seeks to improve gender parity in business leadership. All students interested in supporting our mission are welcome to join and participate. Our mission also aims to increase the number of students who get diverse business degrees while enhancing their career planning and employment after graduation.
The Women in Business initiative offers guidance for gender equality from the student recruiting stage to the beginning of their careers. The program begins with high school outreach as we contact student groups and make them aware of the benefits of a business degree. We also advise how a Coggin College of Business education can be accessible and affordable.
We have established peer mentorship programs linking newer students with upper level Coggin College of Business students. Our peer mentorship program provides students key support and a sense of community as they transition into college.
The Women in Business initiative also provides opportunities for business executives already in the workforce as potential mentors. Career business executives serve as invaluable external mentors by hosting events coupled with discussions on career development. Mentors could find a good recruit for their staff from the Coggin College of Business as well. Surely, our business professionals on the First Coast can remember that one mentor who made a difference and there is no better way to honor that than paying it forward.
Elements of the Coggin College of Business Women in Business Initivative:
