Certificates of Participation

Supervisors (non UNF employee) of a UNF intern may be eligible to receive a Certificate of Participation (COP), tuition fee waiver, for each full academic term in which the person supervised an intern. The COP waives the matriculation fee for a maximum of 6 credit hours of instruction during a single term. Certificates are valid for three 3 years from the date of issuance and are not transferrable.

COP Eligibility

To be eligible, the internship program must be an essential part of the course of instruction and must be required as part of the degree. Eligible recipients of a certificate are identified as a person who engages in direct supervision of a UNF Intern for a minimum of 300 contact hours. Hours may be accumulated (banked) over multiple semesters provided there is a minimum of 100 contact hours of direct supervision per semester.

Requesting a COP

To request a Certificate of Participation, intern supervisors should contact the director of their internship program for which they serve as a supervisor. The internship program will verify the hours of the intern supervisor and send requests to the Office of Academic Support and Information Services (OASIS). Once requests have been verified, the OASIS will begin processing certificates. Certificates will be routed electronically for signature and when recipients are ready to redeem their certificate, they should notify the OASIS at The OASIS will submit certificates to Student Financial Services on behalf of the student.
