ASL Lab
The American Sign Language (ASL) lab is your one-stop place to enhance your language learning. The lab is staffed by native language users and offers a quiet place to study, practice, and complete video assignments for your ASL, Deaf Education and Interpreting classes. The lab assistants are available to help you with vocabulary development, ASL course assignments, and to increase your cultural literacy about the Deaf Community. The lab also serves the ASL Club as a central meeting location for club meetings that include silent game night, movie night and holiday celebrations.

Who can use the lab?
The ASL lab is open to UNF students, faculty, and staff to support their ASL Development. The lab is a signing only environment! Students should come ready to share their name, N# and their instructor’s name for the sign-in log. -
What resources are available in the lab?
There are various books (including dictionaries), DVDs, and journals related to ASL, Deaf Studies, and ASL/English Interpreting that you may use in the lab. The lab has 10 Mac stations where you may record yourself for video assignments. There is also a standing desk and a backdrop available. -
Do I need an appointment?
You do not need an appointment, but you may make one with one of the lab Assistants during their regular hours. They cannot meet with outside of the posted schedule. -
Can anyone reserve the lab outside of tutoring hours?
No, the lab is reserved for use by the ASL Club, ASL/English Interpreting faculty, Deaf Education faculty, and teachers of ASL at UNF. -
Can I eat in the lab?
You cannot eat at the computer stations, but there are tables in the center of the lab that you may use to eat your lunch or store your drink. -
