Jane Palmer taught music in Duval County for thirty-five years. At the elementary level, she taught general music and conducted choirs, Orff ensembles, and children’s choruses for local opera companies. She is certified in Orff Levels 1 and 2. At the high school level, she served as choral director, keyboard instructor, and Performing Arts Department Chair at Duncan U. Fletcher High School where her choirs received consistently high ratings at district and state F.V.A. Music Performance Assessments. She served as Florida Vocal Association District 4 Chairperson and is a certified choral judge. Palmer was selected as Teacher of the Year at both San Pablo Elementary and Duncan U. Fletcher High Schools, received the Teacher’s Choice Award at Pine Forest Elementary and was also a semi-finalist for Duval County Teacher of the Year.
Raised in Upstate New York, her educational background includes vocal studies at Indiana University, The University of Iowa, and The University of North Florida, where she received her B.A.E. and M.E. degrees.She has performed as a soloist with various area musical organizations, and currently sings with the Jacksonville Symphony Chorus. She also serves on the Education Committee of the Guild of the Jacksonville Symphony.
