Dr. Stephynie C. Perkins is an associate professor at the University of North Florida. She earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and then migrated to Florida to earn a Ph. D. at the University of Florida. In 2003, she joined the UNF faculty where she teaches public relations principles, PR writing and PR campaigns. She has also led two study-abroad trips to Nantes, France. Dr. Perkins was a member of UNF's inaugural class of community scholars, and as such, she incorporates the ideals of community-based learning in her courses. Dr. Perkins' classroom experience also includes being an instructor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Before moving into academia, Dr. Perkins was a reporter at the Chattanooga Times and WIVK-FM in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was also an associate television producer for WBIR in Knoxville, Tennessee. Dr. Perkins' academic areas of interest include public relations and mass communication with a particular emphasis on the impact of race. Dr. Perkins is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and she enjoys spending time with her daughter.
