I earned a BFA with an emphasis in Fine Arts and Art History from St. Andrews Presbyterian College, in North Carolina and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA. In 1993, I began teaching as an adjunct while being a productive studio artist exhibiting my art throughout the United States. In 2001, I was promoted to a Visiting Professor and to an Instructor in 2004. Later in 2006, I was promoted to an Assistant Professor and in 2009 to an Associate Professor. I teach Drawing, Painting, Design and Special Project Classes (Art-in-Public Place or site specific art). I have taught eight such classes, which have created nine mosaics and murals, all of which have been installed at the UNF campus. These projects have impacted the campus and the students in many positive ways. The students have a better understanding of what is involved in the creation of large, site-specific artwork. They learn to work by collaborating and making decisions concerning each project.

Although I was trained as a painter, for years I worked as a sculptor using clay, found objects and mixed media to achieve finished forms and unique surfaces. These forms and unique surfaces became my identity and have earned me many honors and a great deal of recognition. These clay forms have been represented in many galleries throughout the United States and are included in hundreds of private, public and corporate collections both nationally and internationally.

Most recently, I am creating and exhibiting collage images and using acrylics to paint on canvas. I have conducted numerous collage workshops and enjoy working in both two and three-dimensional formats. I am challenged in maintaining an experimental approach to thinking and to creating and try to pass this attitude to my students.

I recently participated in the "Art of Nature" event at the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens. For that I created an installation of a fish and two trees. I donated all three to the Arboretum Gardens.

I conducted two collage workshops last summer for Florid Blue which is located at the Town Center. The workshops are designed to benefit the staff and the membership of Florida Blud

My paintings were included in a Guest Artist Exhibition: Jim Draper, Nofa Dixon and David Engdahl in December of this year at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts.

My paintings and collages were presented in a One-Person Exhibition at Kent Campus of FSCJ earlier this year.

I made it possible for an alumni to exhibit her paintings at the Main Library Downtown and another on-person exhibition at Kent campus of FSCJ.
