Undergraduate Students
Students applying to spend a fall and/or spring semester abroad must have a minimum 2.75 GPA at UNF. Students are required to submit one letter of recommendation from a UNF faculty member and a three page (max) essay explaining the personal importance of this study abroad opportunity. Students may study abroad for up to two semesters.
Transfer Students
Based on when you transfer to UNF, you may not yet have a UNF GPA. If you have a 3.0 transfer GPA we will accept your application for a semester.

Hatfield, United Kingdom
Hatfield resides in the county of Hertfordshire, which is situated just north of London (30-minute train ride) with Essex to the east, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire to the north, and Buckinghamshire to the west. Hertfordshire is also home to St Albans, a predominantly Georgian town that dates back to Roman times, and Hatfield House, one of Britain's most important stately homes and the county's top attraction.

Application Material

- COAS candidate application: University of Hertfordshire (Document will return once ADA Certified)
- Step by Step Exchange Process for Students (Document will return once ADA Certified)
- UH Application Guide [pdf] (Document will return once ADA Certified)
- UH Program Application—Note: complete the pdf version (not the online version) of the application. Do not complete the following sections: Work Experience, Statement by Referee, & Second Choice of Courses. Under Finance and Fee Status, select 'other' & write 'exchange'.
- UH Class Selection Form—Note: students must take exactly 4 modules (classes) per semester
- Copy of valid passport
- Updated resume
- 2 passport-sized photos (2 additional photos should be presented at UH orientation)
Submit the following materials directly to the UNF International Center (Building 58E, Room 2300) not to the exchange partner or other UNF offices:
- UNF Study Abroad Information Packet (available from the International Center)
- Copy of visa, once obtained
- International health insurance information, once obtained
Other Information
Accommodations
Hertfordshire encourages exchange students to apply early for on-campus accommodation, which is only guaranteed for students spending two semesters at UH. All university accommodations are self catering and meal plans are not available. At College Lane Campus the accommodation is fully furnished with mainly single bedrooms and shared bathrooms/showers. At de Havilland Campus there are fully furnished single study bedrooms. All rooms have internet access. Please note that students will be asked to pay for their accommodation in full on arrival.
Academic Calendar
The fall semester (Semester A) runs from mid-September to mid-January; the spring semester (Semester B) runs from late January to late May. Students attending Semester A may arrange to leave at the end of December and take proctored exams at UNF in January. View the tentative 2011/12 program dates[pdf].
Visa & Health Insurance Information
Students are required to individually obtain the necessary visa for study abroad prior to departure. Most semester programs are more than 90 days. Students should visit the U.S. Department of State webpage which links to each country's Embassy. Many visa applications must be made in person - please plan ahead! For additional visa information and to discuss UNF's requirement for health insurance coverage, please visit UNF's International Center (Building 58E, Room 2300).

Study Abroad Scholarship
You may be eligible for a SAILS study-abroad scholarship. This award provides funding for undergraduate and graduate international educational experiences that enrich academic and individual development. Scholarship recipients may receive either $1,500 to support a short-term (less than ten weeks) international activity or $2,500 for a long-term (ten weeks or longer) international activity.
