Liaison Majors: Bachelor of Science in Communication
Hello everyone, I am Brittani! I was born and raised in
Pennsylvania and while PA will always feel like home, I love seeing and
experiencing new places.
I attended East Carolina University for my undergraduate
career, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education with
concentrations in Mathematics and Science. I have personal experience on how
hard the transition into college can be, especially since I was an out of state
student, which fuels my passion for helping students achieve their goals. After
graduating from ECU, I headed back up to PA and was a long term substitute
teacher at a k-12 charter school outside of Philadelphia. In this role, I got
to experience teaching almost every grade level at one point or another, but
ended up spending most of my time in the 8th grade environmental
science classroom and the STEM elective classroom.
I wanted to expand my horizons but stay in the education
arena where I could still make a difference in the lives of students. I had a
wonderful academic advisor who inspired me to pursue a career in higher
education. I attended graduate school at West Chester University of
Pennsylvania where I obtained my Masters of Science in Higher Education Policy
and Student Affairs. I had a graduate assistantship/internship at WCU as a
Success Coach and had the opportunity to help students with tasks such as
managing their time, staying organized, learning study skills, making
schedules, etc..
In my free time, I love to watch whatever Netflix series I
am interested in at the time. I don’t just watch TV though I promise - I grew
up playing sports all year round so going to sporting events is another hobby
of mine. I also love to travel and hope to check a few states/cities off my
list over the next year or so. I am excited to explore Jacksonville and I am
excited to be here at UNF.
