Participants are given 12 months from the last day of classroom training to complete his/her approved project. The project must be approved by the instructor beforehand and submitted by each of the DMAIC phases.
There are some advance statistics used in this course. The instructor recommends you purchase an older edition of Triola’s Elementary Statistics textbook to use as a companion text for the course. As a prerequisite, you should be able to use formulas and graphing in Excel as well as algebra to solve equations. We do not currently have a diagnostic quiz to administer, so it is up to the participant to self-report his/her level of statistical knowledge. If you are unsure of your level, please contact the Program Director at Jessica.Murray@UNF.edu.
Yes. Completion of a Green Belt training is a prerequisite of our program. Participants that have attended a non-UNF Green Belt program may be eligible to attend if the program attended was comparable in duration and content (instructor approval is required).
No. While it is required that you have completed a Green Belt training program prior to enrollment, the project component is not a requirement. If you have completed a project with a non-UNF Green Belt program, it is recommended that you provide that for instructor review to support your admission into the Black Belt program.
Most of the course materials are included in the registration fee. You will need to bring a laptop computer, loaded with Excel, to each class, as well as a pen or pencil. You should purchase a statistics textbook as a resource for the course. The instructor recommends a used, older version of Triola’s Elementary Statistics, which can be found on Amazon. ISBN 978-0321460929.
