Institutional Recognition for Community Engagement
UNF is honored to share the distinction of holding the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement, being a President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll recipient, and receiving awards for community engagement within the state of Florida.
Approximately, only 10% of all post-secondary degree granting institutions have the Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement; marking it as a significant honor bestowed on UNF and actualized through the institution's commitment and partnership with the community.
The Carnegie Elective Classification for Community Engagement encourages institutions to develop and adopt innovative practices, policies, and procedures to integrate community engagement throughout all aspects of the campus environment. Evidence-based documentation is used to determine whether an institution qualifies for recognition as a community-engaged institution. The University of North Florida received the Carnegie Classification in 2010 and was successfully recertified in 2020.
The institution will apply for recertification in 2026.
The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll recognizes institutions of higher education that support exemplary community service programs and raise the visibility of effective practices in campus-community partnerships.
