Meghann Wheeler - Academic Focus: Health Science; Engagement Focus: Community-Based Research, Internship, and Philanthropy
Meghann Wheeler, a Brooks College of Health Department of Public Health
graduate from Jacksonville, FL, has shown her dedication to addressing the
public health problems
in our community through community-based research and
internship. Meghann has dedicated
significant amounts of time to working with the Department of Public
Health on a research project regarding CBD, and emerging public health
topic that has yet to be explored in depth.
In addition, she has been interning with the UNF Health Jacksonville
Neurology Department, and has been able to gain more in depth understanding of
the many ways a hospital works to improve the health of the community it
resides in. Meghann’s community engagement
efforts have affected her student experience by allowing her to gain a better
understanding of a public’s health and it’s impact on a community. Lastly, Meghann knows her community
experiences have influenced her future through providing her with opportunities
for personal and professional development.
She plans to apply the skills and knowledge she has gained in her career
as a public health researcher.
