Monica Wakefield - Academic Focus: Public Health; Engagement Focus: Community-Based Learning and Service

Monica Wakefield , a Brooks College of Health Department of Public Health graduate from Jacksonville, Florida, has committed herself to serving justice-involved adolescents in her community through means of advocacy at local summits and conferences with city and state leaders. For the past two years, Monica has demonstrated her passion for juvenile restorative justice initiatives by working with a number of non-profit organizations including the Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center, Cathedral Arts Project and the Girls' Leadership Council; a character building mentoring program for girls twelve to twenty-one years of age.  Monica is a true proponent of the service learning experiences she has had at UNF and believes that it is her responsibility to extend the knowledge she has obtained during her undergraduate career to collaborate and address issues around her.
