Examples of the Community-Based Transformational Learning (CBTL) Gateways

At UNF, students typically enter the community through one of five gateways: volunteering and outreach, immersion, community-based instruction, internships or community-based research.  Definitions and best practices for each of the five gateways can be found on the Critical CBTL Design Elements webpage.


However, Community-Based Transformational Learning (CBTL) is not always "one size fits all." CBTL often varies based on student readiness, course content and academic discipline. In an effort to showcase and explain what CBTL looks like in a variety of disciplines, examples of the five gateways throughout Academic and Student Affairs are included in the links below.
