Sophie Maxis, PhD - Assistant Professor, Leadership, School Counseling and Sports Management
Sophie Maxis, PhD is an assistant
professor of School Counseling in the Department of Leadership, School
Counseling, and Sport Management within the College of Education and Human
Services. Dr. Maxis completed her Ph.D. in Counselor Education - School Counseling
and Guidance at University of Florida, Gainesville in 2011. She earned the
M.Ed. and Ed.S. in School Counseling and Guidance from University of Florida
and a B.S. in Mathematics Education from Oakwood University, Huntsville, Alabama.
For her doctoral research, she examined the relationship between school
counselor self-efficacy beliefs about their general practice at urban,
underperforming high schools and the rate of Black males’ high school
completion.
