Assistance Ministries (BEAM)
BEAM is a community based organization serving low income
residents in Jacksonville’s beaches communities and relying heavily on
community support to assist our neighbors in time of need. We envision a
future in which no beaches resident goes hungry or is haunted by the fear of
Areas of Volunteering are:
Financial Interviewer: meet with clients
one on one to discuss need for financial assistance, verify information as
needed; requires basic computer skills.
Food Stamp/Medical Interviewer: meet with
clients to complete Food Stamp/Medicaid application on line; requires basic
Receptionist in Front Office: greet and
assist clients, answer phones, schedule food appointments, answer general
questions about assistance at BEAM. Requires basic computer skills.)
Receptionist in Food Pantry (Mayport): greet and
assist clients and answer general questions about assistance at BEAM.
Food Pantry (Jax Beach and Mayport): assist client
in food choices; stock shelves as needed with food and personal care items
Garden: planting, harvesting, weeding and
general upkeep of the BEAM garden.
Casual Gardeners: volunteers who would like to
visit the garden on their own to weed, prune or to dream.
Thrift Store (Jax Beach and Mayport): volunteers
will assist with customer service, re-stocking of items, cashiering
Drivers/Runner: truck, SUV or Van preferred.
Food Pickup and help with moving items to other locations as needed.
Group Volunteers: group volunteer opportunities
are typically available for food pantry and garden shifts.
Students Needing Service Hours
Special Projects: Back to School with BEAM event,
Holiday Food baskets for families at Thanksgiving, Christmas toys for families
with children 1-14, Organizational help for fund raisers

City Rescue Mission
City Rescue Mission, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) corporation that provides food, clothing, shelter, emergency services and residential recovery programs to homeless men, women, and women with children.

Downtown Ecumenical Services Council
Downtown Ecumenical Services Council – DESC – was founded in 1981 by churches in urban Jacksonville to provide emergency assistance to people in need.
ElderSource serves as the focal point to which elders, adults with disabilities, caregivers, Northeast Florida seniors and the general public can receive information, referral, assistance and answers on all aging issues.
Empowerment Resources Inc. (ERI) provides programming for children and their parents that builds personal resiliency through education, awareness, and hands-on discovery.

Gabriel House of Care
Haven Hospice is a non-profit, community hospice providing the gold standard in hospice services and programs for over 35 years. These programs and services are all-encompassing and provide assistance with the physical, medical, emotional, and spiritual challenges associated with advanced illnesses.
Heartland Hospice provides care to patients wherever they call home: in the house they've lived in for years, a skilled nursing center, an assisted living facility or independent living facility.
Lutheran Social Services
Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida is a faith-based social service ministry focused on improving the quality of life for people in need in the Jacksonville, FL, area.
Mission House was created, and is the only day facility to help meet the needs of the homeless adults at the beaches through compassion, faith and programs designed to provide assistance at an individual level.
