Volunteers Needed for UNF Dining services (Chartwells) with help from UNF Health Promotions and the UNF Environmental Center. Volunteers will take over the Osprey café, raffle prizes, and work educational booths during the project. Event will be September 12-September 16 from 11:00am -2:00pm each day in the Osprey Café. All volunteers receive complimentary lunch

The Five Star Veterans Center of Jacksonville
Seeking a volunteer to help keep the website and Facebook page updated. For the first 2-4 weeks the volunteer would come to the Center (orientation, meet staff) and begin updating. Thereafter, most work could probably be done remotely with a monthly visit to the Center to update staff.

Donate blood plasma, save lives, and get paid up to $100 per week! The Humarus LLC is an FDA accredited plasma donation center located opposite the Alhambra theater on Beach Blvd.
Requirements: Valid ID (student ID counts), proof of address, and social security card. Must weigh at least 110lb (50 kg). Call 904-642-1005 for new donor appointments.
UNF English Language Program (ELP)
We are looking for English-speaking volunteers to come and join us in our Power Hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30. In our Power Hour, the students will play games and converse in English. These activities are a good way to improve speaking fluency in a relaxing way. The students like to have native English speakers come and volunteer during this time. It is a great way to practice English with native speakers, learn about American culture, and make new friends. Call the ELP office at 904-620-4281 to set up a schedule.
YMCA Reads - Help change the life of a child!
The Y READS! Program seeks to close the gap in students’ reading performance and the State of Florida’s reading performance expectations. It’s is an excellent volunteer opportunity because it allows the volunteer to have a positive involvement in a child’s life, have a practical and enriching experience working with at risk children, and will provide the volunteer with an educator experience in a diverse and high need community.
The Bridge of Northeast Florida - Help kids become academic all-stars!
The Bridge of Northeast Florida is seeking academic tutors to work with students in K-10th Grade, one day per week (Monday-Thursday) for a minimum of an hour per week,3pm-4pm OR 4pm-5pm.

Hunger Action Month is upon us! September is a great month to get involved in with helping the food bank, because we will have fun things going on all month to celebrate the work being done by our volunteers in our community. Hunger Action Month is also the last month before our busy 4th quarter holiday season gets started, so it is a great time to get on the calendar before it gets too full.

The GATE River Run is the largest 15K race in the US and will once again serve as the USA 15K Championship with America’s top Olympic athletes competing for $85,000 in prize money. Last year, over 24,000 runners participated. The 2017 race marks the 40th anniversary of the event! More Info

UNF Relay for Life April 6, 2017
A team event to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society, celebrate cancer survivors, and remember loved ones, and fight back against cancer. There will be food, live performances, games, and more!

Strides For Pride April 2017 (Date TBA)
Strides for Pride is a 5k Run/Walk and a 1 Mile Fun Run for kids of all ages! The inaugural Strides for Pride on April 21, 2012 had over 500 participants run, walk or stride in the 5K and over 100 participants in the 1 mile fun run! First Coast March for Babies Saturday, April 2017 (Date TBA)
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Our annual March for Babies event is our biggest fundraiser and we need the help of volunteers to make it possible!
