UNF Traditions Project
Recognizing the need to highlight the University of North Florida's existing traditions, a group of UNF students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni met in February and March 2013 to define "tradition" for the UNF community and to develop criteria for determining which events and activities should be considered core UNF traditions. The Traditions Committee then conducted focus groups and online surveys throughout 2013, gathering input from nearly 700 members of the UNF community regarding the shared experiences students, faculty, staff and alumni find most meaningful. From these suggestions, the committee compiled a preliminary list of UNF's core traditions for public review.
In January 2014, the committee sought community input on the preliminary list of traditions through in-person feedback sessions and online comment. After the comment period closed, the Traditions Committee reconvened to review the comments and select the final list of core traditions. The final list was unveiled as part of the Homecoming festivities at a special UNF Traditions Celebration for students, alumni, faculty and staff in The Boathouse on Feb. 20, 2014.
