Biography

Susan A. Massey is Head of Discovery Enhancement at the Thomas G. Carpenter Library. She oversees staff creating and editing metadata to enhance discovery in the library's multiple user interfaces. Susan earned a Master of Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University, and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Her current research interests include leadership in an online environment and batch processes for library database maintenance.

Awards

  • 1995: Blackwell North America Award for Research Promise of the Alabama Library Association.
  • 1991: Passed Louisiana State University School of Library and Information Science comprehensive examination with distinction, an honor conferred by faculty readers and the SLIS Dean.
  • 1991: Elected to The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi chapter at Louisiana State University.
  • 1990-1991: Recipient of Gertrude Bott Saucier Scholarship, Louisiana State University.
  • 1988: Recipient of John and Hester Slocum Fellowship at the Louisiana State University School of Library and Information Science.
  • 1988: Nominated to receive the Scholastic All-American Collegiate Award by the Student Government of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
  • 1981: Initiated into The National Honor Society in Psychology Psi Chi chapter at the University of Houston.
