Biography

Koren Borges has 25+ years of global management, marketing and business development experience. She has an undergraduate degree from Brandeis University. She also holds an MBA in Marketing and International Management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition she holds an MA in International Relations and International Economics from the School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University.


Ms Borges began her marketing career as a Marketing Representative at a small winery in Austin, Texas where she was responsible for increasing distribution as well as implementing in-store promotions. She also worked as Market Development Consultant in the commercial section of the New Zealand consulate in Manhattan where she was responsible for increasing the penetration of New Zealand products and services in the US.

During graduate school, Ms Borges worked for Citibank in New York, London and Frankfurt.


After finishing her graduate studies, Ms Borges joined the international marketing division of AirTouch Communications, a mobile communications firm in San Francisco, which was subsequently acquired by Vodafone, a UK-based firm, in 1999. The merger created the world’s largest mobile communications provider.


Ms Borges has developed marketing strategies and/or managed marketing operations in Brazil, Taiwan, Poland, Japan, Egypt, Malta and Mexico. She has been involved in the strategic and operational aspects of global marketing and management at various stages of industry and company evolution. Her work includes start-ups, the introduction of new competitors into the marketplace as well as turn-arounds. She left Vodafone as Senior Vice President Marketing and Business Development with responsibility for $980 million in revenues and a $52 million marketing budget.
