Ashley N. Ballard is a local health education coordinator who specializes in helping young people improve their lives through healthy eating, physical training and sound decision-making. She’s a graduate of the University of North Florida (UNF), having received her bachelor’s degree in Health Science in 2005 and a Masters of Public Health in 2009. Mrs. Ballard began her work in public health, starting as a peer educator for Project Tag, a teen abstinence program. She currently serves as the Coordinator of Health Education in the UNF Department of Health Promotion. In this position, she’s responsible for the operations of the Paul Shirley Assessment Center (PSAC), the L.I.F.E (Lifestyle Improvement For Everyone) peer education team, and on- and off-campus health education programming and training. Certified as an American Red Cross instructor and HIV counselor, she also assists with coordination and marketing of health promotion programming, special events and campaigns. In addition, Mrs. Ballard is an adjunct instructor at UNF, teaching racquetball and tennis.
