Dr. Barton is a recognized international pioneer in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) research. He teaches in, and has published research and consulted in the areas of:

  • derivative financial instruments, valuation and accounting
  • financial accounting, management accounting and auditing theory and practice
  • film industry financial issues

Prior to entering the teaching profession, he was controller of a distribution company and was an auditor with a large international CPA firm.

Dr. Barton has taught accounting courses at the University of Virginia and the University of Florida.
