Alumni Recognition Awards

Help us recognize some of our thousands of amazing UNF alumni! We need your nominations to honor alumni who possess the highest standards of integrity and character; who have distinguished themselves through professional accomplishment or by their service or philanthropy; and who positively reflect and enhance the prestige of the university.

Nomination Timeline and Process

Timeline

  • Summer - Call for nominations begins
  • October 5 - Nomination deadline
  • February - Alumni Recognition Dinner and Awards Ceremony

Nomination Process

Nominations will be accepted from all persons, organizations, and groups. Nominators must download and complete one of the award specific nomination forms found below. Nomination forms must be completed in their entirety and received by the UNF Alumni Association by October 5.

 

Nominators should be careful that all titles are accurate, as submitted information will be used to prepare news releases and other promotional materials. To complete the nomination form digitally, you must download the file from the link and work in the Adobe Acrobat desktop program.

Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award

The Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is the highest honor given to a graduate of the university. To be nominated for this award, a UNF graduate must have made significant contributions to his or her profession, community and/or society, and have consistently maintained the pursuit of excellence as a representative and graduate of UNF.

Award Selection Criteria

  • Must have a degree from the University of North Florida.
  • Must have attained the highest level of professional accomplishments.
  • Voluntary service on a local, state, national or international level is evident.
  • Special honors or recognition may strengthen the nomination.
  • Current members of the UNFAA Board and current UNF faculty and staff are not eligible for this award.
  • Those who have previously won the Distinguished Alumni Award cannot be nominated for the award a second time.

Distinguished Alumni Award Nomination Form

Young Alumni Achievement Award

The Young Alumni Achievement Award is presented to alumni of UNF for outstanding professional achievement, contributions to the community and exemplary service to the University. The recipient must have completed his/her UNF degree within the last 10 years.

Award Selection Criteria

  • Must have a degree from University of North Florida, with the first UNF degree granted within the past 10 years.
  • Must be 35 years or younger as of Dec. 31 in the year of nomination.
  • Must have attained a high level of professional accomplishment.
  • Must have demonstrated outstanding voluntary or other public service on a local, state, national or international level. This should include service to University of North Florida and participation in other clubs, service organizations, or community involvement within the past 10 years.
  • Special honors, awards or recognition may also be submitted for consideration.
  • Current members of the UNFAA Board and current UNF faculty and staff are not eligible for this award.
  • Those who have previously won the Young Alumni Achievement Award cannot be nominated for the award a second time.

Young Alumni Nomination Form

Alumni Service Award

The Alumni Service Award is presented to alumni of UNF who have demonstrated continuing outstanding volunteer service on a local, state, national, or international level - including at UNF, through clubs or service organizations, or through other community involvement. Candidates must possess the highest standards of integrity and character to positively reflect and enhance the prestige of UNF.

Award Selection Criteria

  • Must be a graduate or have previously attended the University of North Florida.
  • Must have demonstrated continuing outstanding voluntary service on a local, state, national or international level - including at UNF, through clubs or service organizations, or through other community involvement.
  • Current members of the UNFAA Board and current UNF faculty and staff are not eligible for this award.
  • Those who have previously won the Alumni Service Award cannot be nominated for the award a second time.

Honorary Alumni Award

The Honorary Alumni Award is given to friends and supporters of UNF for exemplary service to the University. Do you know someone who loves UNF and is full of Osprey pride, but isn't actually an Osprey? Let us know!

Award Selection Criteria

  • Must not be a graduate of University of North Florida.
  • Must have demonstrated continuing outstanding voluntary service to the University of North Florida on a local, state, national or international level.
  • Current members of the UNFAA Board and current UNF faculty and staff are not eligible for this award.
  • Those who have previously won the Honorary Alumni Award cannot be nominated for the award a second time.

Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award

 

The Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is the highest honor given to a graduate of the university. To be nominated for this award, a UNF graduate must have made significant contributions to his or her profession, community and/or society, and have consistently maintained the pursuit of excellence as a representative and graduate of UNF.

Young Alumni Achievement Award

 

The Young Alumni Achievement Award is presented to alumni of UNF for outstanding professional achievement, contributions to the community and exemplary service to the University. The recipient must have completed his/her UNF degree within the last 10 years. 

“I am delighted to receive the Young Alumni Achievement Award. My education at University of North Florida played an instrumental role in launching my dream career at CNN… The road was not easy. Alumni Service Award

 

The Alumni Service Award is presented to alumni of UNF who have demonstrated continuing outstanding volunteer service on a local, state, national, or international level – including at UNF, through clubs or service organizations, or through other community involvement. Candidates must possess the highest standards of integrity and character to positively reflect and enhance the prestige of UNF. 

 

“Never did I imagine when I crossed the graduation stage here at UNF in 1997 I would be back, let alone to receive such a prestigious award, but the mere fact that I am here is a testimony that everyone has the capacity to be of service in some capacity.  I am truly appreciative of the platform UNF has given me to move humanity forward.” - Dr. Irvin "PeDro" Cohen

Honorary Alumni Award
