Scholarship Programs

The University of North Florida offers scholarships for freshman and transfer students at the undergraduate level. UNF is committed to helping students finance their college education. Whether you are seeking a scholarship based on academic achievements or financial need, we offer plenty of options. Read through our advice below or click a link to the left for quick scholarship listings.

Academic Merit-Based

Incoming students can apply for the Foundation's competitive merit-based scholarships listed below.

The UNF Foundation Scholarships office has implemented a new scholarship management system called AcademicWorks. This system allows students to view their eligible scholarships, apply online and manage the acceptance process. To be considered for a Foundation Scholarship, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Complete Data Sharing Consent Form

Each year, students must complete the data sharing consent form to be considered for any Foundation scholarship. This includes renewal of an existing scholarship. Once the form is complete, it takes 24 hours for student data to be updated in Academic Works.

To access and complete the form:

  • View the Data Sharing Consent Form
  • Log into myWings
  • Click on the Data Consent with UNF Foundation Scholarship link.
  • Fill out the form and click submit at the bottom.

Step 2: Visit UNF Academic Works

Complete the general application along with any applications from the colleges and units.

It is important to note that student information is not immediately updated in the system once the data consent form is complete. Students will have access to AcademicWorks but all eligible scholarships will not appear until the following day.

For questions regarding Foundation Scholarships or AcademicWorks, contact foundationscholarships@unf.edu.

UNF Presidential Scholarship

Award amount: Up to $24,000

Minimum requirements: 3.8 high school GPA

The University of North Florida is committed to helping students invest in their college education. Incoming first-year students who exhibit outstanding academic achievements are considered automatically for the Presidential Scholarship. Awards range up to $24,000 over four years for students who have at least a 3.8 weighted grade point average and corresponding test scores on the ACT or SAT.

The Presidential Scholarship amount you may be eligible for is based on a combination of your test score and recalculated high school grade point average. The higher your GPA and test scores, the more likely you will be to receive a higher amount. Scholarships are provided on a funds-available basis, so apply for admission early. No separate scholarship application is required. The priority deadline for all scholarships is October 15. Students who have been admitted to UNF by this deadline will receive priority consideration.

First Generation

The University of North Florida participates in Florida's First Generation Matching Grant Program. Over 300 UNF students were awarded First Generation scholarships in 2007 during its first year, thanks to UNF fundraising efforts and an appropriation from the Florida Legislature. In order to qualify students must:

  • Be a Florida resident
  • Have parents who have not completed their bachelors degree
  • Complete a FAFSA that demonstrates financial need
  • Be enrolled in at least six credit hours, in a degree seeking major
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 UNF GPA.

Award is contingent on continued funding.

Students are notified of their award at the beginning of the Fall semester via UNF email. For new students, an affidavit attached to their scholarship notification must be signed and returned to One-Stop Student Services located in Hicks Hall. Once received, awards are posted in the student’s myWings account. Scholarship renewal criteria also requires student to complete all hours attempted and is contingent on continued funding. Scholarships are paid over Fall and Spring semesters.

Rising Scholars

Osprey Test Prep Program

Since you are taking the initiative to get the best possible score on your standardized test, the University of North Florida is offering scholarships to Duval County students for participating in the University of North Florida Rising Scholars Osprey Test Prep Program.

We know you have many choices for your college education, so UNF would like to encourage talented students in Duval County to stay in the local area for their higher education experience.

Students in the Rising Scholars Osprey Test Prep Program are eligible to receive the $4,000 UNF Rising Scholars Osprey Test Prep Scholarship ($1,000/year for four years) if they complete these four criteria:

  1. Attend a free UNF test preparation session.
  2. Take a UNF campus tour, either through a UNF Welcome Center event or part of the regular weekday campus tours.
  3. Apply and be admitted to UNF as a freshman.

Be sure to let the financial aid representative know you are trying to earn the scholarship so they can appropriately document your meeting.

*A reminder that scholarships are awarded on a funds-available basis and qualifying does not automatically result in award offer.

We look forward to helping you with the next steps on your educational journey.
