Duties for the Communications Committee can include the following:

  • Assist in securing room reservations for AAC meetings and setting the monthly agenda for the AAC meetings 
  • Assist in recording and dissemination of meeting minutes to the AAC
  • Provide icebreakers for the first AAC meeting of each term
  • Create ways for advisors to interact with advisors from other advising units during the monthly AAC meetings or events
  • Develop, monitor and maintain on-line communication tools for AAC (e.g. Canvas, central academic advising webpage, a new AAC webpage for campus partners)
  • Create a brief advising newsletter and disseminate at the beginning of each semester
  • Meet each new advisor individually to welcome them and give AAC overview and resources
  • Advertise for various AAC events, as needed
  • Send thank you cards to guest speakers of AAC
  • Take photos of AAC events and featured advisors
  • Coordinate informal socials once a semester for the members of AAC
