For optimal consideration for one of UNF's institutional scholarships, submit your complete admissions and scholarship applications by the priority admissions deadline. Presidential Scholarship qualifiers need not submit a scholarship application. However, if you would like to be considered for any of our other scholarships, applications are welcomed and encouraged. Applicants will be considered on a funds-available basis. Visit
Admissions for information on how to apply.

Course fees will be automatically pended against your available financial aid and/or scholarships. If your financial aid does not completely cover your course fees, you will need to pay the remaining amount in the Cashier's Office (Bldg 53). The deadline to pay fees is listed for each term in the Course Catalog.

Yes! As long as the total of your scholarships and financial aid (including Bright Futures) does not exceed the Cost of Education, as determined by UNF Enrollment Services, you are welcome to keep both awards.

In all fairness to our eligible applicants, UNF refrains from offering more than one institutional scholarship to the same student. You will be able to keep the highest award for which you qualify and earn. Be sure to apply early for optimal consideration.

The value of a scholarship would have to be enough to cover tuition first. The remaining balance can be applied toward your housing payment. To defer your housing fees against a scholarship prior to the Housing payment deadline, contact Housing Operations or visit unfhousing.com for a deferment worksheet.
-
Meal memberships are issued through a private organization so it is currently not possible to defer meal payments with your scholarship(s). Please contact the Chartwells Dining Services office regarding payment arrangements.
-
Once tuition/fees have been covered, the Cashier's Office disburses any balance of scholarship dollars to students after the first week of classes (add/drop) each semester. You can usually expect to see payment beginning in the second or third week of the semester. Refunds may be mailed by check or direct-deposited into a bank account. Visit the Cashier's Office for instructions on setting up direct deposit.

NOT NECESSARILY. Check with One-Stop Student Services to ensure proper enrollment for different scholarships and financial aid programs. Your scholarship and/or financial aid may be jeopardized if you are not properly enrolled at UNF. Check with One-Stop Student Services before making any schedule changes. Students receiving institutional scholarships for example, must be enrolled as full-time students at UNF in order to receive funding.

Scholarships count toward your financial aid; therefore, other need-based aid (grants, subsidized loans, etc.) may need to be reduced so you are not over-awarded beyond your cost of education. A Cost of Education budget is determined for each student and, according to Federal regulations, the sum of your awards cannot exceed this budget. Additionally, if you are an athlete, the NCAA has regulations and guidelines that must be followed. It is imperative that you notify One-Stop Student Services if you are receiving additional funding as the scholarship award might affect your Federal Financial Aid.
-
YES, if you do not meet the terms of your scholarship contract, your scholarship may be canceled. Read your scholarship agreement carefully, maintain the required UNF cumulative GPA, and be sure to enroll full-time at UNF for renewal. Students are evaluated for scholarship eligibility at the end of each spring semester to determine renewal for the next academic year. If you do not enroll in the minimum UNF credit hours each term (fall and spring), however, your scholarship may be in jeopardy even after the fall term.

Out of state fee waivers are limited in quantity. The amount offered is based on academic merit and the number of hours in which you are enrolled. The waiver reduces cost of tuition for out of state residents, however, it does not completely close the gap between in-state and out-of-state tuition. For detailed information, see the department (i.e. Admissions, Athletics, Honors, Music, etc.) from which the waiver was awarded.
