The Executive Branch works to address student concerns on campus. Members of the Executive Branch help the student body in multiple ways. Their duties include serving on university committees, speaking at events, working with athletes, Greek and other groups and organizations, as well as coordinating activities for students. The Executive Branch is comprised of the Executive Cabinet and Executive Agencies. To see what was accomplished during 2016-2017, click here.
Samantha Mims is serving as Student Body President for the 2017-2018 Academic Year. Ms. Mims is originally from Niceville, Florida, and graduated from Niceville High School in 2015 before committing to UNF as a Division 1 student-athlete. She is currently a junior at UNF, majoring in Political Science with a minor in Public Administration and Political Campaigns. During her time at UNF, she has been active in Student Government where she served previously as the Senate President Pro-Tempore and Constitution and Statutes Committee Chairwoman. Samantha has also served as the Vice President of the Student Athletic Advisory Council, competed with Model United Nations, served as an Executive Board Member of Sigma Alpha Pi, was a Peer Buddy for Best Buddies, and has been involved in several other organizations. Samantha plans to graduate in Spring of 2018 and hopes to pursue a Master’s Degree in Political Science or Foreign Affairs in Washington, DC. Upon the completion of her studies, Samantha hopes to serve her community and country by joining the Armed Forces or becoming a lawyer.
Cole is a junior double majoring in Business Management and Political Science. Originally from Callahan, Florida, Cole graduated from West Nassau High School and Florida State College of Jacksonville concurrently, achieving his high school diploma and Associate of Arts degree in 2015. During his time at UNF, he had the opportunity to serve the student body as Clerk of Court in the Judicial Branch of Student Government and most recently as Student Advocate within the Executive Branch.
As Vice President, Cole plans to increase student outreach and engagement within the Executive Agencies of Student Government. Additionally, as an advocate for health and safety, he will continue supporting the increased provision of mental health services on campus and policies that will benefit the health and well-being of the student body at large.
Cole enjoys participating in the Model United Nations club on campus and keeping up with international affairs. After graduating, Cole hopes to attend graduate school to obtain his Masters of Public Administration and obtain a career working in public affairs.
Gloria is a junior majoring in history and double minoring in community leadership and philosophy. Gloria was born in south Florida and after graduating high school she moved to Jacksonville to attend the University of North Florida. Since her time in college, Gloria has fallen in love with both the Jacksonville community and UNF. This is Gloria’s first position within Student Government and she is excited to work for students and with students in order to give back to her UNF community.
As Project Manager, Gloria hopes to develop and execute programs that will help Student Government to better engage with the student body here at UNF. She hopes that these programs will better the student’s campus lives while being fun and enjoyable for all.
Gloria is also involved within various organizations on campus. After graduating, Gloria hopes to attend law school where she wishes to pursue a career in corporate law.
