UNF values its role in the community. Whether it's bringing national and international experts to campus to discuss the issues impacting our lives or providing a venue for the swinging sounds of contemporary jazz, the University continues to enrich the intellectual, cultural and recreational lives of people in Northeast Florida.
The University's Distinguished Voices Lecture Series has attracted to campus cultural icons like Desmond Tutu, commentator George Will and broadcaster Dan Rather. The UNF Jazz Program is considered one of the top undergraduate jazz programs in the country. Jazz and other regularly scheduled School of Music concerts offer an evening of entertainment for the entire family at the Fine Arts Center, site of the 1,300-seat Lazzara Performance Hall.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, the Gallery of Art, and the Lufrano Intercultural Gallery of Art play an integral role in UNF's cultural offerings and those of the surrounding metropolitan area. MOCA’s changing exhibitions in its downtown location feature the works of many contemporary masters and budding artists working in a wide assortment of media. The University Gallery features individual and group exhibitions on campus by artists of regional and national renown and group shows featuring UNF art faculty and art majors. The Lufrano Intercultural Gallery in the Student Union hosts a wide range of exhibits to promote cultural awareness and interchanges.
Sports fans are encouraged to come to campus to enjoy a variety of athletic events in some of Northeast Florida's best facilities. Fans can take in a baseball game at beautiful Harmon Stadium, see soccer and track meets at Harmon Stadium and watch basketball and volleyball in the UNF Arena.
Visitors to the UNF campus will also experience nature. UNF is nestled among 1,300 scenic acres that include a nature and wildlife area with lakes and nature trails for the public to enjoy.
