Project Management On June 19, the Project Management Office launched a new process for submitting IT project requests. This brings a new project proposal form, an improved project review process, and a standard framework for delivering projects. The PMO has conducted project proposal training for the faculty/staff who develop and submit project requests. Look for additional classes to be posted under the CPDT Class Register (Training) link under Quick Links in myWingsThis training is required if you want to be able to submit project proposals. For more information, please visit the PMO Website.

Global Malware Outbreak: Use Caution Opening Links/Attachments

Ransomeware There has been a global outbreak of Ransomware, a type of malicious software that takes over a computer preventing access to any files until a sum of money is paid. Ransomware often infects a computer when the user opens an attachment or clicks on a link that leads to a fake website. The best defenses are to keep software up to date and practice these good cyber security behaviors:
    • Be cautious when opening links or attachments in emails
    • Delete unexpected emails along with email from unknown senders
    • Restart University computers regularly to apply software patches
    • Ensure that personally owned computers are running the latest security patches and antivirus definitions

    Remote Desktop Connection Changes

Remote Desktop Due to recent firewall upgrades, UNF faculty and staff who use Remote Desktop Connection to directly access work computers from outside the University network need to first connect to the Virtual Private Network using AnyConnect. Those who connect to RDS.unf.edu are unaffected. Any network traffic initiated from off campus to an on-campus workstation not using VPN no longer works by default. The new firewalls are high-performance security appliances that add many new features and capabilities to increase security to the campus community and provide greater flexibility to meet business/educational needs. Check to see if the recent firewall upgrades affected your Remote Desktop Connection.
