Parking & Transportation Services has developed a list of tips to help manage some of your parking issues.
Tips for everyone
Before you buy a parking permit
Allow more time or plan to park in the outer lots during peak times: Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all day Tuesday and Thursday.
It takes less time to find a space in Lot 18 or 53 and ride the Shuttle to the center of campus than circling the inner lots and garages where parking is congested. Try parking in Lot 18 or 53, and save time.
Lot 18 is accessible from either St. Johns Bluff or Beach Boulevard via Central Parkway. Lot 18 is north of Eco Road from UNF Drive.

If you get a citation on Tuesday, 14 calendar days is the second Monday, not the second Tuesday. Don’t get caught being a day late with your payment.
Thanks to the virtual permit program, you may now register up to 5 vehicles to your purchased permit through your parking account via myWings portal, however, you may only have one vehicle on campus at a time.
For the virtual permit program to work properly, you must park your vehicle "nose in" to a parking space. This way your license plate can be quickly scanned by our tag recognition camera trucks.
Tips just for students
Before you buy
Parking permits are sold on a "first come, first served" basis. Buy your permit as soon as permits go on sale. Don’t wait, because some of the more desirable permits have set sales limits and will sell out.
If possible, schedule your classes away from the peak times: Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all day on Tuesday and Thursday.
If you are desiring to use Financial Aid to cover the cost of your parking permit, you will need to complete a "Financial Aid Authorization Form", located on your MyWings in the Student Tab under the heading "My UNF Bill". Read the statement and select the Authorization button to complete the form. Proceed to purchase a permit, follow the steps to purchasing your permit and the fee will appear on your myWings Student Account, 24 hours after the online purchase is completed. Any excess financial aid will apply to this fee.
Save some $$. If you are a commuter student, Gray Lot permits are less expensive than the other permit categories.
After you buy
Your license plate becomes your virtual permit (physical permits are no longer be distributed). Please make sure the information on your parking account via myWings is correct and park your vehicle "nose-in". For example, do not back into a parking space and do not pull forward into the open space in front of the original space.
If you own both a 4-wheel vehicle and a motorcycle (both cannot be parked on campus simultaneously), it is in your best interest to purchase a 4-wheel vehicle permit and have both the vehicle and the motorcycle registered to the same permit. The vehicle must park within the valid parking lots designated to the purchased permit, and the motorcycle may park within any designated motorcycle spaces stationed throughout campus.
Tips just for faculty and staff

The preferred payment method is by using the 24-payment payroll deduction. This is pre-taxed and allows for any changes to the account, such as upgrades and permit returns, to be much easier.
Faculty/Staff permit allows the priority to all Faculty/Staff spaces, located on the first floor of the garages and other premium lots that are marked with orange wheel stops. This permit is sold as an annual permit only.
After you buy
If you are a 9-month faculty or staff employee using the 24-payment plan for your parking permit, be sure to complete the Stop Payroll/Refund form located on the Staff tab, Employee Online forms section in the myWings portal, to stop your payments.
Tips just for visitors
Before you buy
A parking permit is not required Saturdays or Sundays unless there is a special event on campus. Special event signs will be highly visible when entering campus and will inform you if payment is required.
Even if you purchased an event ticket for the Fine Arts Center or for an Athletics event, you still need to purchase a $5 Daily Virtual Permit from the Pay-by-Plate kiosks located in several lot locations. Helpful hint: take a picture of your license plate prior to arriving at a kiosk; this information will need to be entered into the kiosk because the license plate becomes the virtual permit. Permit enforcement is Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If you are just dropping off a child at one of the summer camps (up to 30 minutes before the start of camp) designated drop off locations or picking up (up to one hour after the camp is finished) at the designated location, you don’t need to purchase a Daily Virtual Permit. Please contact the camp administration for more information about the drop off and pickup locations. If you are going to park and leave your vehicle for more than the allotted times for pick up and drop offs, then you will need to purchase a $5 Daily Virtual Permit from a Pay-by-Plate kiosks, Monday through Friday.
Visitors to campus must abide by the UNF rules and regulations or risk getting a citation. If you receive a parking citation, you have the option to make payment (must be paid within 14 calendar days to avoid receiving an additional $10 late fee) or you may appeal the citation by submitting on line by going to the link, Ticket Appeals.
