About Me

I'm an ME Major in my junior year. For fun I go to the beach, play soccer, play the guitar, watch action/comedy movies, run around outside with my dog, and hang out with my beautiful girlfriend -- and the nerd in me apparently likes making complicated websites with no purpose. I don't know what else to say...I'm not too good at talking about myself. Oh, and I've also started my own web design and programming business.

Why a Login?

Simply put--to see if I could. Most of the programs are freeware; so they are copyrighted with certain terms in the license that allow users to change, modify and distribute the program and its derivatives so long as all their users have these rights also. This way they cannot copyright their derivative and sell it as propriety software to users that should (and deserve to) be able to use, modify, and distribute the program for free. For those programs that I couldn't, or chose not to copyleft, I wanted to require a login so that I can require an extra step and chance to tell the user the expectations for using and modifying the free software.

Registering

When registering, you submit your name, IP address, and requested 10 digit password. By running/downloading any programs or source code, you agree to follow UNF's (or your respective organization's) policies on academic integrity. With that said, enjoy! Also, by registering, if you have any questions you can email me and I'll do my best to help. (Just remember, I'm an engineering student, not CIS, so all I can promise is my best.)

Using the Programs

Windows

On Internet Explorer

For running/installing programs click the link that says [Run/Install someProgram -- Windows]. Then click [Run] and then [Run] again. This will either run the program or install it, depending on the requirements for the application. Remember: always read the help/license file before running; it has the terms of the license and useful instructions.

On Firefox

For running/installing programs click the link that says [Run/Install someProgram -- Windows]. Then click [Save]. Save the file to your desktop so that it will be easy to delete after running. If it's a program that can be run directly from the website, you will want to delete it after using. If it's a program requiring installation, you will want to delete the installation wizard after installing. So either way, using the desktop makes things easiest.

Linux

The easiest and most predictable way is to copy and paste the source code into a linux-based system (such as secure-shell), compile, then execute. To download secure-shell ask a CIS professor.

Ending a Program

First, I have tested each program and made sure they work and close safely. However, if a program is vaguely written or you can't figure out what to do, press [ctrl] + [c] (the control and c key at the same time). This should escape out of the program in the middle. Otherwise, as long as you follow and answer the prompts, you will make it to the end and it will ask you to type either 'exit' or 'q' then enter to close the program (for Windows users; on Linux it'll just end).

Using the Calculator Programs

The programs are designed to be saved to your computer and then transferred to your calculator using whatever software you normally use to transfer items.

TI-89 Titanium: Go to the home screen and type in the program abbreviation followed by ( ). Then follow the prompts. If the program is stopped, hit enter until it advances.

Ending a Calculator Program

First, I have tested every program many times. They are designed to make it impossible to crash, regardless of system or user error. But since I can't test every senario, it is possible something unexpected can happen. If it doesn't respond you can hold [left],[right],[2nd], and [On] at the same time to reset your calculator. It's better than removing your batteries, which can lose everything.

WARNING!: This will clear your RAM! Use ONLY as a last resort. You may lose all programs and variables that are not archived. Flash apps, archived data, and your OS will be fine.
