Work/Professional experience

(I) Design several bridge super-structure and sub-structures and load rating of steel and prestressed concrete bridges.  Some examples of the projects are:

  • Structural Design and load rating of concrete & Steel Bridges.
  • SR 9A / SR 202 Bridge (J. TURNER BUTLER BOULDEVARD INTERCHANGE), Jacksonville , Florida ; a- Segmental Concrete Bridge, b- Steel bridge Alternate.

·         SR 102 (AIRPORT ROAD ) OVER (JIA) INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT BLVD Bridge

o        Steel box superstructure design

o        Steel Span overhead Sign structure design

o        Mast Arm design

o        Substructure design

·         SR 292 Over Bayou Chico bridge-Load rating, FDOT District 3

·         Used following Software RC Pier, CONSpan, MDX, STAADPRO, MATHCAD, Microstation, PCACOLUMN, factor, prestressed beam design

·         Developed spreadsheets: (a) footings design, (b) Pile design (c) MSE quantities and vertical & horizontal curves (d) Calculating loads and moments on Bridge supporting elements.

·         MDX load rating for curved steel bridges

(II) Shear and flexure tests on bridge girders strengthened with FRP composites. Reviewed load test data and evaluated the test procedures for existing two bridges. I helped in verification of the test results against laboratory and field data from the load-testing program.

(III) My work in the international Construction Chemical Company, Fosroc, involved:

·         Laboratory testing of repair materials and protective coatings for concrete,

·         Field investigation, specifying & developing method statements for repair materials & methods.

·         Publishing 4 conference papers on materials and concrete performance and attending an international conference in Bahrain.

·         Holding presentations on structural repairs explaining materials high performance & compliance with specifications and repair methods.

·         Completion of training on repair material in England on a new electrochemical concrete treatment, NORCURE (Realkalization & Desalination).

(IV), Shared in conducting the experimental and analytical research program - at North Carolina State University - on testing two 1/4 scale model bridges and published the report of “Jointlesss Bridge Decks” FHWA/NC/95-006 in September 1995. I participated in developing a Non-Linear finite element analysis program to investigate the performance of bridges, to model concrete girders and decks, investigate the structural behavior of deck- continuous bridges and the deck connection element under different loading conditions, and the assessment of bridge rehabilitation.

(V) Lab testing of strengthened beams in flexure and experimental research on strengthening and repair of concrete structural elements.

(VI) Lab Durability testing of structural members.

(VII) Design structural elements, concrete & steel buildings.
