SPuDS - Structure Prediction Diagnostic Software
(1.) Download SPuDS Version 2.17.02.06 (compiled February 6, 2017)
[Windows Vista/7/8/10)(1630 kb)]. Installation instructions. Download and execute the setup.exe file. Choose the default "C:\Program Files (x86)\SPuDS\" or a directory of your choice. It may be necessary to have administrator rights to install SPuDS. Restart the PC if SPuDS crashes on first use.
(2.) Win 8.1 users. The output files may not be written unless SPuDS is executed as an administrator. Right click on spuds.exe and choose "Run as administrator".
(3.) XP users, ensure the .NET framework (x86) version 3.0 or greater is installed. Use IE to browse to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Click Custom, then select Software, Optional. Select the .NET V 3.0 framework (or above), then restart.
(4.) Windows 7 users. A Windows update in ~Dec. 2011 appears to have broken the functionality of the SPuDS executable for some users. A workaround is to right-click on the SPuDS icon, select the Compatibility tab, then click the check box for 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and select 'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)' from the dropdown box. Click OK and start SPuDS. If this does not work, please e-mail screen captures and details about the observed error. Installation of Windows Virtual PC in Windows 7 is another way to use SPuDS using Windows XP.
If you experience error messages regarding "MSVBVM60.DLL file not found", then unzip the Visual Basic run-time DLL msvbvm60.dll to the Windows\system (95,98,ME) or Windows\system32 (XP) if it not already installed on your PC. Restart the computer, and then execute SPuDS again. If you experience an error message "missing msstdfmt.dll" while using TUBERS in Windows XP, a possible fix is to click start, run, then enter "regsvr32.exe msstdfmt.dll".
If you are a user of the software and able to execute SPuDS on a different platform (e.g. Linux/VMware/Wine/VirtualBox), please share your results with michael.lufaso[at]unf.edu.
