Book

College Algebra by Paul Sisson, 2nd ed. with Software. Also required is a scientific calculator.

**No graphing calculators are allowed!!!**

1. Click here to receive your access code to use the College Algebra software.
(You must have your section number and license number (found in your book packet) to to this).

2. To get started, you can refer to the Getting Started page. (This is the handout given to you in class).**You need only look at the instructions entitled "QUANT SYSTEMS USING THE INTERNET".

3. To enter your certification codes for each quiz, click here. (You must first login with your access code tobe able to enter your certification code!)

Attendance

Regular and prompt attendance is essential for optimal progress in the course.

Class

Lecture is held MW 12:00pm-1:15pm in 14/2743
This is also called the College Algebra Lab.

This is a computer-assisted course. The more time you spend in the computer lab the more you will learn. I encourage you to use the time on the computer as it will reduce your studying time and will be helpful in doing the homework. 

Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) provides additional help.

Responsibilities 

Cheating will not be tolerated. In order to keep the class running smoothly, please refer all questions to myself. I encourage class participation, so please feel free to speak up when you have a question or do not understand.

Your final grade will be based on the following formula:

Homework 10%
2 Midterms (20% ea.) 40%

Homework

Homework will be assigned and collected in Recitation or as specified in class. Homework assignments can be found HERE.
 

LATE HOMEWORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Quizzes There will be a written quiz each recitation section based on the current homework assignment. Of course, there are no excuses for missing a quiz.  IN ADDITION, there will be quizzes assigned for the computer during each recitation. At the end of each section in the book, you will take the quiz. 

Exams

Exams are based on the homework problems and lectures. Your calculator is allowed on the exams. Otherwise, the exams are closed book, closed notes, and open mind. Exams dates are:

Midterm 1 - Wednesday, September 30
Midterm 2 - Wednesday, October 28 
Final (Cumulative) - Wednesday, Dec. 9 (11:00am - 12:50 pm)

Last Day to Drop is Friday, November 6

THERE ARE NO MAKE-UP EXAMS SO SCHEDULE ACCORDINGLY.
