MHF 3203 and MAS 3203 or MAD 3107 or permission of
the instructor. 
Book

Recommended:
Ken Rosen's Elementary Number Theory, 6th ed.and The
Joy of SET: The Many Mathematical Dimensions of a
Seemingly Simple Card Game (ISBN 9780691166148)
as well as the SET cards.

Description 
This course will consist of topics from analytic,
algebraic, computational, or elementary number
theory. Possible topics include, but are not limited
to: congruences, reciprocity laws, quadratic forms,
prime number theorem, Diophantine equations,
Gaussian sums, quadratic residues, number fields,
class number, units, and partitions.

Attendance

Regular and prompt attendance is
essential for optimal progress in the course.

Homework

Homework will be assigned from the
textbook as stated in class. Please write neatly
and attach your pages before you come to class.
Homework is an integral part of the course and
should be done as such. Homework will be collected
on the dates specified in class. 

LATE HOMEWORK WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED.

Exams

Exams are based on the homework
problems and lectures. Your calculator is allowed
on the exams. Otherwise, the exams are closed
book, closed notes, and open mind. Exams dates
are:
