Leonard J. LipkinTeaching interestsI have taught many courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. They include courses in real analysis, complex analysis, functional analysis, ordinary and partial differential equations, differential geometry and manifolds, applied mathematics, numerical analysis, probability, mathematical statistics, financial mathematics, and most undergraduate courses in mathematics (including Explorations in Mathematics and a special Calculus for Biology course) and several in statistics. I have been active in the “mathematics reform” movement for nearly twenty years, starting with collaboration on the NSF Project CALC at Duke University. This activity has resulted in changes in course content, teaching methods, and numerous publications relating to teaching mathematics. This activity has included the use of interactive computer modules, teacher education in mathematics, and emphasis on reading and writing in mathematics courses. I have also received a three-year NSF project for training high school teachers to use technology and writing in the classroom. |
