Hey Y'all
After our last outing last weekend on the Suwannee River above Fargo, Ga., Dot and I decided to go back up there again this past weekend. Tom Mason, one of the phone guys on campus (or network guys . . whatever) joined us in his jon boat. He has a gas outboard and an electric trolling motor.
When he was using his gas outboard he was either way behind us where we couldn't whiff the gas fumes or way ahead of us, where again, we couldn't whiff the fumes. Tom is a past canoeist, so he is as 'hateful' of gas fumes and outboards as Dot and I are and he was very thoughtful of us during the trip. Good Job Tom !!
This is near the start of the trip upstream. Admittedly, we did 'hitch' a ride with Tom for a little less than a mile or so. But it did give Dot and I a well appreciated reprieve from paddling. That and we were able to go another mile further upstream than we did the last time on our own.
This really is a very beautiful, very scenic part of the Suwannee River. Wildlife here is like it is on the St. Mary's River . . scarce ! But the scenery more than makes up for the lack of wildlife.
The two 'trees' in front are actually the root system of one immense cypress tree. This is looking through the trunk of one tree to view another cypress further away.
This is at a rest stop where Dot and I had gotten well ahead of Tom and we were waiting for him to show up. You can see 'Big Red' upstream where we parked her.
This is where I was standing in the last photo looking back downstream waiting for Tom to show up. That's him just coming around the curve.

Like I said, it is very scenic.
Dot and I plan on taking a couple new friends up here after it gets cooler. They are Ron and Bobbi. They are the ones who supply me with my much talked about fireworks for our fireworks display for the 4th of July. Take a good gander Ron and Bobbi. Yeah . . it's a bit of a long drive . . but worth it . . don't you think?
