Academic Integrity
Note:
This policy does not exhaustively list all instances of academic
plagiarism.
No
form of cheating, whether on quizzes/exams or on programming
assignments, will be
tolerated. Assignments that are more similar than chance are considered
instances of cheating. A student can neither share his/her code with
another
student nor use another programmer's code as his/her own (whether or
not the
programmer is a student at UNF). It is irrelevant whether s/he is the
student to code
(and share) or to copy. The exception to this rule is code provided by
the
instructor or in the course textbook.
Students
may discuss solutions to problems in abstract/design terms only.
Students are
not to look at another student's code nor to work on programming
assignments in
groups. Students are not to debug another student's code. All
programming work
must be done independently. Exceptions include help obtained from the
tutors
available in the computer lab. Be aware that a tutor may not be
familiar with the constraints of the course. Tutors are NOT to write
code or to correct syntax errors. The purpose of a tutor is to identify
conceptual problems and assist the student in figuring out his/her
syntax errors.
Punishment
will include a grade of F for the course, a recommendation for
disciplinary
action, and a notification of academic plagiarism placed in the
student's file.
