Born: 1823 in Adams County, PA (Younger brother of John Dietrick MILLER)
On 1862.10.16 enlisted in 158th PA Vols at Newburg, Cumberland County, PA.
Injured at Petersburg, VA, sent to City Point Hospital, then Alexandria, VA and honorably discharged on May 31, 1865. On 1880.10.31 David (57) applies (with his mark X) for a disability pension as a resident of Green Spring, Newton Twp., Cumberland County, PA. In the 1890 Federal Civil Soldiers List of Cumberland County, PA at Green Spring is David, including an earlier 1862.10.16 service to 1863.09.12. On August 24, 1892, David died and was buried at Green Spring Cemetary, Cumberland County, PA.

His wife, Mary signed her name on the 1892.09.01 application for a Widow's Pension and
showed their son Ira Hayes living with her in a small log weatherboarded house 1/4th mile from the post office and owned by David
and that she is dependent on her son John C. who has a family and is a daily laborer.
Mary Hurley MILLER died Nov. 1st, 1913 and is buried next to David in Green Spring Cemetary. |
