New Hampshire
Flying
into Manchester and renting a car is the best way to see the fall leaves...at
3,000 feet...and the KOOL weather had just begun...the 2000BC America's
STONEHENGE village of the South Salem area
near the Massachuette's line contains the oldest man-made stone buildings
in the new world...makes for a wonderful walk in the woods to see the colors
up close... makes a lasting impression just as my previous visits to Britain's
STONEHENGE... and the Great
Wall of China for its length.
Before leaving Manchester, visit the CURRIER Gallery of Art and the
FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT residence (left).
Driving
north to the White Mountains the Great
FLUME at FRANCONIA NOTCH State Park
is a 200 million year old geological wonder...glacial
boulders and pools, gorges and Cascades, and a covered bridge are some
of the sites set among the fall leaves.

Vermont
Crossing
the wide Connecticut River takes one into the Green Mountains and brighter
colors. The town of St. Johnsbury
is an early settlement...and Stowe
is a short drive to the west...Lyndon
has three covered bridges...from earlier times of the area. Newport
on the lake at the Canadian
border is a walking town of great beauty!!! |

Quebec, Canada
Crossing the very wide Fleuve Saint - Laurent (St. Lawrence River),
the French city of Quebec
lies on the north bank...A 10-minute drive from downtown
Quebec is
Parc de la Chute - Montmorency,
a waterfall 100 feet higher than Niagara Falls ! ! !
the Canadian
beauty!!!
Below the high cliff is the old town, a wonderful walking experience of shops and eaterys.

Maine
Again, crossing the St. Lawrence River,
and the United States border, Maine is in full color on the drive to
Acadia National Park at Bar Harbor...
The village of Bar Harbor is downtown on Frenchman's Bay with great views of the piers
and harbor boats and 4-masted schooners.
Lobster is THE meal to order.
Kennebunkport
is the next main attraction south of Bar Harbor. Take time for a trolley ride and lunch on the water...
