Vancouver, Canada

The Aquarium Marine Science Centre at Stanley Park is a day to remember after ariving by the FREE summer TransLink shuttle bus ride.
Here one starts the Alaskan experience by watching frolicking pure-White Beluga Whales.
Across from the whales are the sea lions which love to amuse thwe visitors. Lunch at Prospect Point Cafe over-looking the Lions Gate suspension bridge is worth your time.
The public totem art show is there for one to learn about the poles and the First Nations people who carved them and their culture.
A walk along the river at Stanley Park is the only reason to move from your chairs. The river, mountain and city views were just outstanding !

KETCHIKAN

This is a walking town along Creek Street with the colorful old bordello shops. Ketchikan has a high percentage of Native Alaskans and is a salmon capital.

Built in 1902, St. John's Episcopal Church rests on pilings at the water's edge.

JUNEAU

The discovery of gold in 1880 resulted in the founding of the capital Juneau. The Alaska State Museum, with its bear and eagles displays are a must see. Do this BEFORE going to the Red Dog Saloon.

SKAGWAY with a Scenic Rail View

Located at the northern end of the Inside Passage,it has only 820 year-round residents. It is here where fortune seekers during th Alaska Gold Rush sought rest and relaxation on the grueling route to the Yukon.

The area became home to numerous gambling houses and bordellos, as well as 80 saloons. Try the 1898 Red Onion Saloon for a flashback to the 1880's.

It is at the southern point of the White Pass & Yukon Railroad Line. Built during the Klondike Gold Rush, this narrow gauge railroad is an engineering landmark that must be ridden over the towering Coast Moutain the thousands of men climbed to get to the Yukon gold fields.

Hon's Table

A short ride on one of the original Vancouver Streetcars will take you to the Hon's, where you can enjoy their fine art of Chinese cooking. Try broiled salmoon with Sauce for a treat to remember...and, of course, use chopsticks.

Final Captains Cocktails

The M.S. VOLENDAM is a destination in itself with a refinded elegance for crusing to the many ports of Alaska's Inside Passage.

His farewell party in the Crow's Nest gave one last look to an exceptional experience of North America's wild hertage set amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

Alaska...since 1880
The goldland where the sun
last sets...
but the sealife never stops.

Alaska was the kind of place you would see in those movie travelogues that always ended...
"And so, as the sun sinks slowly in the West over America, ...enjoy."
