Asai Asaithambi received his Ph.D. from the University
of Wisconsin-Madison
(UW-Computer Science)
in 1985.
Since then he has held academic positions at Mississippi
State University (MSU-Mathematics and Statistics),
Lincoln Univesity of Pennsylvania
(LU-Mathematics and
Computer Science), Saint Louis University
(SLU-Parks College),
and University of South Dakota
(USD-Computer
Science).
His teaching portfolio includes
mathematically intensive computing courses at the
undergraduate and graduate levels. His research
interests are in the areas of computational science,
artificial intelligence, and high-performance
computing.
He has published a textbook entitled
Numerical Analysis: Theory and Practice (1995), and
over 35 research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
He has made numerous presentations at regional,
national, and international conferences, and directed
several doctoral dissertations and Master's theses in
computing.
Additionally, he is interested in
broadening participation in computing by
underrepresented populations including women.
