  1. OBJECTIVE & PURPOSE

To establish guidelines for the admission of graduates from non-regionally accredited (N-RA) institutions in accordance with the Florida Statewide Articulation Agreement 6A-10.024.

  2. STATEMENT OF POLICY

In 1998, Florida law (s.100724 (6) F.S.) was amended to allow non-regionally accredited institutions to participate in the Florida Statewide Course Numbering System (SCNS). Courses from non-regionally accredited institutions that are part of the SCNS may be transferable.

If a student has no transferable credits from a regionally accredited institution, he/she starts as an FTIC (first time in college) student.  He/she must provide high school transcripts, test scores and meet FTIC admission criteria.  No transfer credits are awarded from the N-RA institution.

If a student has a N-RA bachelor’s degree, but has earned a masters or other graduate degree from a RA school, the bachelors is accepted, all hours input under the current catalog and the student is deemed to have met or been exempted from general education, Gordon Rule, foreign language and CLAST requirements (treated just like RA bachelors.)

If a student has a RA bachelors, the N-RA hours which transferred toward bachelors are also accepted.

If a student has a combination of credits from RA and N-RA schools, the regionally accredited hours are granted and the N-RA hours are reviewed for SCNS.  Students are required to furnish transcripts for all N-RA schools which appear on RA transcripts as transfer hours so that attempted hours can be inputted for excess hours accounting.

If a student has an AA from a Florida public institution or received a military Associate of Arts (while on active duty or within one year of ending active service in the U.S. military) from a regionally accredited school and a portion of the AA credits is from a N-RA school, the student is granted those hours the AA degree granting school counted towards the AA degree.

    Students seeking graduate admission:

UNF does not accept transfer credit from a non-accredited school therefore the student starts from the beginning.
