QUESTIONS FORWARDED PENDING RESPONSES

QUESTIONER I: DATE ASKED: FORWARDED TO:
Anonymous March 2, 2017 John White, President (2016-2017)
UNF - United Faculty of Florida
QUESTION SYNOPSIS I:
In a recent "Did you know" item you said: "Not having any discipline-specific guidelines leaves Promotion and Tenure decisions entirely at the discretion of administration, without feedback from departmental faculty."
This statement seems misleading given the composition of department P&T committees, which are made up of departmental faculty, and the role their vote plays in the outcome of P&T cases. As well, department faculty are able to write department letters of recommendation. And the University P&T committee is made up of faculty as well, although not departmental faculty. How do you claim that P&T decisions do not have feedback from departmental faculty, and that discipline-specific guidelines are the antidote?

QUESTIONER II: DATE ASKED: FORWARDED TO:
Anonymous September 7, 2017 John Delaney, President
University of North Florida
QUESTION SYNOPSIS II:
In your e-mail of June 22, you stated: "Moreover, we have evidence from third parties that our grading standards are simply tougher than various peer institutions. In other words, our faculty grade harder than other schools." Can you please share this evidence with the faculty? Thank you.

QUESTIONER III: DATE ASKED: FORWARDED TO:
Anonymous September 7, 2017 Ann McCullen, Vice President
for Development and Alumni Engagement
QUESTION SYNOPSIS III:
Since the stock market crash of 2008, the stock market has risen more than 200%. Yet the UNF Endowment is barely up 50% from its lows, and our endowment is essentially unchanged in the last ten plus years.

1) Can you please explain this performance?
2) Can you tell us, in dollar amount, how much the Foundation spends per year in management fees and expenses for its investments?
3) The last campaign raised more money than is in the endowment. How much of the money raised in the campaign went to the endowment? How much has been spent? How much was in pledges that have not been received yet?
