Support of the Proposed Expansion of the Sawmill Slough Preserve

SUPPORTING THE SAWMILL SLOUGH PRESERVE EXPANSION
WHEREAS, the Gopher ridge, Robert Loftin trails, and the Wildlife corridor are portions of UNF’s land holdings that represent unique ecological spaces on our campus
WHEREAS, these spaces are already significantly utilized by UNF faculty, students, and staff for both educational, research, and recreations endeavors that enhance ourselves and our community
WHEREAS, the UNF Student Government has passed a resolution (JR-15F-2899) in support of extending the boundaries of the Sawmill Slough Preserve in order to include and protect the areas of the Gopher ridge, Robert Loftin trails and the Wildlife corridor for all students to enjoy for generations to come
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Association of the University of North Florida supports the permanent expansion of the Sawmill Slough Nature Preserve through the addition of the Gopher ridge, Robert Loftin trails, and the Wildlife corridor.
