Public Health– Graduate

Terminate a degree-major of an existing program
Master of Science in Health - Health Science Major

Summary of the Changes:
This is a request to close a degree program. The Master of Science in Health (MSH) Degree with a concentration in Aging Services Management (formerly Geriatric Management) is a small program which has averaged a head count of 9-12 students per year over the last 15 years and has graduated 65 students during that time. The program currently has 11 students, 6 full-time and 5 part-time. Two of the three primary faculty teaching aging content courses have retired and the third is close to retirement. At the same time the need for faculty for the Masters of Health Administration (MHA), which provides half of the coursework for Aging Services program, and the Bachelor of Health Administration program has increased.  Based on the small size of the Aging Services program and resources required of the MHA and BHA programs it is has been determined that the MSH in Aging Services Management (MSH) should be terminated.

Terminate an existing non-degree program
Certificate - Aging Services

Summary of the Changes:
This is a request to delete the Aging Services Certificate. The courses required of this certificate are the aging courses taught as part of the Master of Science in Health (MSH) degree with a concentration in Aging Services Management. A request has been made to terminate that degree program thus the required aging course will no longer be taught.

Change a degree-major-concentration of an existing program
Doctor of Nursing Practice - Nursing Major Nurse Practitioner (Family) Concentration

Summary of the Changes:
We changed the program of study last year to reflect the change from MSN-DNP to BSN-DNP. However, because of course changes, we need to make some changes to the existing courses in the BSN-DNP Nurse Practitioner concentration. The changes will be:
NGR 7768 Role Development in ANP requires NGR 6603C Diagnosis and Management of Chronic Conditions of Adults and Children as a pre-requisite course.
NGR 5601C Diagnosis and Management of Acute Conditions of Adults and Children drops NGR 5141 Pathophysiology and NGR 5172 Pharmacology as co-requisites.
NGR 5810 Research Methods for EBP drops NGR 5110 Theory as a co-requisite.
NGR 7850 EBP I requires NGR 6603C Diagnosis and Management of Chronic Conditions of Adults and Children as a pre-requisite.

Change a degree-major-concentration of an existing program
Doctor of Nursing Practice - Nursing Major Nurse Anesthetist Concentration

Summary of the Changes:
We need to change the co-requisites and pre-requisite for two courses in the BSN-DNP nurse anesthesia concentration. These changes are required because of changes to the program that were made last year to incorporate the BSN-DNP nurse anesthesia program. The changes are:
NGR 5003C Health Assessment/Diagnostics drops all co-requisites.
NGR 6491 Advanced Anesthesiology Nursing Seminar requires pre-requisite NGR 6424 Principles of Anesthesia Nursing IV.
