Resolution on Freshman Housing Requirement

Whereas UNF has a mission to serve the residents of Northeast Florida;

Whereas the Freshman housing requirement may be a financial burden on students and families;

Whereas a significant number of UNF admits and local high school graduates choose not to attend
UNF because of the Freshman housing requirement;

Whereas the Freshman housing requirement has been referred to by the administration as an “experiment”;

Therefore, be it resolved that the Faculty Association asks the UNF administration to allow students who live in Duval, Baker, Clay,

Nassau, or St. Johns County to opt out of the requirement.

Note:   Fall + Summer FTIC enrollment has dropped from a high of 2579 in 2006 (Fall SAT of 1160
and Fall yield of 40%) to an estimated 1639 in 2015 (Fall SAT of 1218 and Fall yield of 23%).
