Doctor of Nursing Practice - Nursing Major

Summary of the Changes:

We are requesting to change the DNP program from a Master's entry level to a Baccalaureate entry level. The program change will combine elements of the current MSN program of study (43 credit hours) with the DNP program of study (47 credit hours). The combined BSN-DNP program of study will be 82 credit hours. The BSN-DNP program is in line with current recommendations from accrediting bodies for entry into practice for advanced practice nurses. This change will affect the ARNP concentration, as well as the Nurse Anesthesia concentration and the Clinical Nurse Specialist concentration. This program change will address courses related to the Nurse Practitioner concentration. This does not require the addition of new courses; however, there are a number of changes to current courses. These are: NGR 5003C Health Assessment and Diagnostics (increase in one credit hour); NGR 6740 Advanced Nursing Practice Role (change in title and content); NGR 5601C Advanced Nursing Practice I (change in title, content and add two credit hours); NGR 6602C Advanced Nursing Practice II (change in title, content and add 3 credit hours); NGR 6603C Advanced Nursing Practice III (change in title and content); NGR 7768 Role Development in Advanced Practice Nursing (change in title, content and objectives).
