Political Science and Public Administration – Graduate

Change a degree-major-concentration of an existing program
Master of Public Admin. - Public Administration Major Public Policy Concentration

Summary of the Changes:
We wish to require all students in the MPA program to take the existing internship course (PAD 6946 Internship in Public Administration) unless they are currently working in the public or non-profit sector (designated as in-service students) or have worked in a public or non-profit setting for at least one year (designated as service-completed students). The MPA director will make a determination regarding the student's status as being in-service or service completed upon the student's admittance into the MPA program. If a student is not designated as in-service or service completed at that time, then the student must take PAD 6946, Internship in Public Administration, in order to graduate with an MPA degree. Any waiver of this requirement for financial or other reasons must be requested by the student and approved by the MPA internship supervisor. This requirement is applicable to all concentrations within the MPA degree.
We also changed the class waived for Fast Track students, consistent with program decisions during our recent curriculum revision. There is no change in credit hours (42).
