Course Description:
The focus of this class is on leadership within the context of small work groups and self-directed project teams and their role and functions within community organizations.  The course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to function as an effective team member and leader, promote the development of an understanding of the role(s) of work groups/teams within the community organization, and to introduce students to group/team leadership theories and research and their implications for the broader context of leadership in culturally diverse settings. A community based learning experience is required.

Course Description:

Summary of the Changes:
The Community Leadership minor offers opportunities for personal and professional leadership development to all UNF students regardless of major. The Community Leadership minor is a 15 semester hour concentration for students who desire to enhance their professional and personal leadership abilities as part of their academic major; in conjunction with their university-wide community based transformational learning activities; and for those students who envision a career with non-profit community organizations. The 15 semester hour program of studies is designed to provide undergraduate students with academic classes, experiential learning activities, and community leadership opportunities that promote the development of ethical leadership. The program complements student participation in the University of North Florida Institute for Values, Community and Leadership. Total of credit hours in program of study are 15 credit hours.
