Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

General Information

The GRE revised General Test, developed by the Eduational Testing Service (ETS), is used to measure readiness for graduate-level work and is an admission requirement for many graduate-level programs.  The test is comprised of three sections: Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning.   The Office of Academic Testing administers the computer-based test (CBT) version of the GRE year-round.   

 

Testing Hours

The GRE is offered Monday through Friday with sessions starting at 8:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.  The GRE revised General test may only be taken once every 30 days.

To reschedule or cancel a GRE appointment, examinees must contact GRE three full days prior to the scheduled appointment (not including the day of request or the day of the test). The fee to reschedule is $50.

  

Fees

The test fee is $185 and is payable by check, money order, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, or JCB.

  • GRE General Test Study guides are also available for purchase at local bookstores and online.
